Workstation Assessment is a chartered organisation that specialises that application of ergonomics to office workstation to reduce ill-health, discomfort and maximise productivity.  We conduct on-site workstation assessments, posture and set-up training for the office workplace.

We can also deliver DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessor training allowing your organisation to comply with the DSE regulations, an overview of the regulations can be found here

Our chartered ergonomics consultants have many years of experience in workstation design and set up.  Our ergonomists have a degree in ergonomics as a minimum requirement and have all the relevant accreditations ensuring the highest degree of expertise for your staff.

Why Assess DSE Workstations?

There are many reasons to assess workstations as summarised below:

All significant users of computers need to be assessed under the Display Screen Equipment regulations (1992) which can be found here.  The benefits of conducting workstation assessments is numerous including:

Services

Simple Office Workstation DSE assessment

Designed to enable compliance with the Display Screen Equipment regulations.  We can conduct assessments for entire offices or individuals as required.  These would be completed by our chartered ergonomics consultants.  We would spend around 15 to 20 minutes with each user assessing posture, chair set up, screen position, keyboard and mouse position, other equipment and environment.  We would provide training and advice in good posture and set up. A summary report with any recommendations would be provided for each user.  Each user would be given a guide on optimal workstation set up.


Workstation DSE Assessor Training

Also referred to as Display Screen Equipment assessor training, this training provides the delegates with the knowledge, skills and tools required to conduct suitable and sufficient DSE risk assessments for your staff.  The DSE assessor training is a 1 day course delivered on-site by our chartered ergonomics consultants. It covers theory but also offers a practical session allowing delegates to put the theory of assessing individuals into practice.  It covers the following:

All delegates who are able to demonstrate competence would be issued a certificate.  All forms and training materials would be provided, this will enable you to roll out your DSE programme after the training straight away.  A sample DSE policy would also be provided.  The ergonomist would be available via email for off-site support for all delegates.

Complex Workstation DSE Assessment

Suitable for instances where an individual has an injury, medical condition or discomfort.  The chartered ergonomist would conduct a thorough and detailed review of the individuals circumstances and medical history.  Anthropometric measurements would be taken to allow selection of appropriate equipment if required.  All aspects of the workstation including the chair, desk, screen, keyboard, mouse, telephone and other equipment would be reviewed.  The environment would also be assessed.  A detailed report with findings and recommendations would be provided.  The user would be provided with a workstation set up guide for optimal workstation set up.


Workstation User Training

We can conduct a range of training interventions summarised below:

Walkthrough training – we conduct a simple walkthrough of the office floor and conduct training for all interested staff in the ergonomics of workstations and posture as well as chair and workstation set up

Workstation set up training sessions – short sessions of around 30 minutes covering the main aspects of workstation set up, posture and ergonomics

One to One training – spend around 10 minutes with each user on an individual basis conducting training in ergonomics, posture and workstation and chair set up.
